In a world where access to culture is often conditioned by financial and geographical barriers, an innovative project is emerging: a traveling floating museum that opens its doors for free during its stopovers. Driven by a purely philanthropic vision, this unique concept aims to democratize art and culture by making them accessible to as many people as possible.
This floating museum is also a true maritime gem. ArtExplorer is a catamaran that stands out as one of the most remarkable multihulls. It has just received the prestigious ‘Multihull of the Year’ award at the 2025 Boat International Design & Innovation Awards. Simply boarding this vessel is a remarkable experience in itself. Officially launched at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2023, it now sails across the oceans, docking in iconic ports around the world. Each stopover is an opportunity for discovery and sharing, allowing local populations and visitors from all backgrounds to admire exceptional works of art free of charge.
The initiative is based on the desire to bring art closer to those who are often deprived of it, whether they are far from major cultural centers or limited by economic constraints. In addition to exhibitions, conferences, workshops, and meetings with artists will enrich the experience, fostering exchange and artistic awareness.

Among them, Frédéric Jousset, an entrepreneur and passionate art lover, plays a key role in this initiative. Originally from France, he is known for his commitment to cultural outreach and his support for numerous artistic and heritage projects. He is the founder of the Art Explora Foundation and the visionary behind ARTEXPLORER, the world’s first floating museum.
Designed by architects Axel de Beaufort and Guillaume Verdier, this 47-meter-long vessel, built at the Perini Navi shipyard in Italy, is a symbol of innovation and cultural democratization. In 2024, more than 220,000 visitors explored its free exhibitions during its journey across the Mediterranean.
After stopping in Valletta (Malta), Venice (Italy), Marseille (France), Tangier (Morocco), Rabat (Morocco), and Málaga (Spain), ARTEXPLORER will continue its voyage in 2025, making a stop in Durrës, Albania, from April 10 to 21, continuing its mission to share the unifying power of art.
